Pier fishing

I am thinking of pier fishing either sodus or summerville. Should I just cast spoons or use j-plugs or jerkbaits. When is the best time in the fall to go. Thanks.

Glow in the dark spoons are your best bet but you can get some on other lures too. Night time or just before and after sun up.
