Laker fishing & Temp

Hello

When trolling Lakers and checking the temps what do you do if say you are in 100 ft drop your probe and you read 39 degrees 80 feet down over 100. Should you slide in closer to shore cause it is to cold for them? Are you looking for the 39, low 40's right on the bottom? Alslo, do you guys troll Parrallel with the shore as to stay in the same depth so you don't have to keep dropping the rigger ball deeper & deeper. Thanks for the help
