I got an email saying the derby fees are going up. I don't mind paying the extra $5.00 if the prize money is bumped up. Will it happen? As of right now, the prize money looks the same on the website.

If they charge $5 more, they had 11,174 entrants in 2007, and the number of entrants does not decline drastically, that is over $50,000.00.

The question is WHY the increase? I was under the assumption that the Derby was 100% payout depending on entrants. If I am wrong than I appologize but if i am not than the increase should show up in the payout.

Please explane.

Nothing ever goes down boys! I hope it does increase prize payouts. Anything below 5th place isn't worth killing in my opinion. I let them go back and swim. A fish is more important to me than 25 or 50 bucks. However, that's just my opinion, and my father HATES it.

The only thing I could think of for the increase is the LOC plans on losing some participants due to our bonehead govenor and his resident and non-resident license increases.

The increase in non-resident license fees would be my guess also for the increased

LOC entry. Have heard alot of people (around my area) saying they're not buying a license this year.

i too think they are counting on losing people due to the increase in licenses, but the spring/summer/fall season is a long one especially once the reports start coming out about people killing the fish and i bet most people will be back.
