The improved clinch knot is one that I have used religiously for more years than I want to admit but now I'm perplexed.

I just ordered some of Sigg's flies and was informed that I should use 40# leader between the dodger and the fly. What knot do you suggest?

I know this sounds crazy but out West here, I try to use as light a leader as I can get away with and tie the strongest knot without becoming obtrusive. I fish for Browns mostly these days but uncle Stanley (Stan) has me wearing the magnetic strip off of my credit cards to take after Coho Salmon.

I search back a couple of pages and didn't find anything about rigging flies or different ways to rig flies. I kind of understand the concept of the heftier leader adding more motion to the fly.

Thanks,

Dale

i use an overhand knot between fly and flasher. No swivel just a direct connection.

Surgeon loop knot....like Tim said. Can't find one good reason to do it any other way? Loop knots don't cost nothin either ;)

I use the perfection loop. I also add a heavy swivel to any of my flashers that do not have them.
