I have a 21' wellcraft and I would like to hear about your opinions about the bimini top rocket launcher for soft top.

I came across this site and I thought this is something I could add to my boat. This is just for $150 with free shipping. I thought this would be a great alternative and yet inexpensive.

I would be concerned about the strength of such a set up, unless you strictly use it just for rod storage.

We run our copper down the chute with a pike ball out of the launcher on our hard top and it puts a heck of a lot of stress on the holders, especially with a fish on.

I'd hate to se the bimini poles fold under the pressure and the rod end up in the drink.

I have something close to that on my boat. I made it myself. The main support goes all the way down to the boat. Having it attached like the picture puts a lot of pressure on tha canopy frame. If you keep it seperate and something happens, you don't have to replace both. I wouldnt fish a rod up top either, unless it was spring browns.

Tim and Jeff:

I agree that this type of set up should only be limited to holding the rods. Simple as that.

Heres a sister photo of this boat.

I have rod holders at the stern for a single copper set up. There are four rod holders just in the back of the stern and before the outboard motor.

Overall plan - I will add a heavy duty low profile dipsey dual rod holders on port and starboard for the diver set up. http://www.greatlakesplaners.com/index.htm.

Word to wise to those who have rail mount clamp on rod holders:

I have lost a copper set up and net by relying on this darn rail mount rod holders. If I had invested into low profile dual rod holders, I would have saved myself plenty of greenbacks.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Two words Anthony.....Atlantic Towers. Worth the money in quality, can run your planer reels, lights, antenna, etc and would look awesome on your boat.

Rich,

By golly - you re absolutely right on this! I really liked your set up very much and our boats are nearly identical.

I am stuck between a rock and a hard place as I have made up my mind to spend money on the auto pilot this year.

I will need to find a third job if I am to spend $ on the Atlantic Towers :P
