update on the bottom paint...to prime or not to prime

I just got back from the company where I bought my bottom paint. I asked them why, when I asked for EVERYTHING I would need to paint a previously unpainted bottom, did they not sell me primer? It states on the can that primer is required.

Well, it turns out that Blue Water has had a problem with the primer failing, causing all the paint to peel off. They now are recomending NO primer be used, and to paint directly over the fiberglass after using the dewaxer and sanding with 80 grit. This is for Blue Water paint, but as for the others I wouldn't know? :roll:
