Why wait until April 1st? There are a lot of streams that you can trout fish right now.

Where I live, all of the streams are frozen over except for the Niagara. I have a place in the southern tier where I fish the streams but all of the streams around it don't open until the first. It is a little bit of a ride to the finger lakes for me.

steeliebum - good eye, nope WAY south of the big lake.

I am fishing year round legal streams, some artificial only sections too.

catch and release only sections on this stream, which I am happy to abide by.

April 1 is a different story...
