I'm going to look at a 10 year old outboard that I'm thinking of using as a kicker on my 20' Thompson. It's a long shaft with manual start and was used on a small fishing boat. I would appreciate any guidance on what to look for or look out for. Seller wants $800.

Good motor, price seems just a tad high.. If it has good compression, starts easy, and the lower unit doesn't need re-sealed, there's no reason that motor won't last 30 years. I've been running a '69 merc. 7.5 since new... These things are pretty much bullet proof.

I run a 8hp merc kicker on a lund sportmans 21 pro v. these motors are bullet proof if taking care of.

The price is a little high for the age.
