Is the ice all the way up to the launch? Is the snow deep in the parking lot? Thanks in advance for the replies from the locals that can be my eyes before i venture up there.

I can tell you they are still ice fishing there! The perch are biting thru the ice! It is still early yet. I would look for river access somewhere at this point if you want to get out on the lake.

Be careful going out of sodus when there is ice on the bay. Ice chunks can jam up in the chute on a southrly wind. Tough to pull your boat out at the beach.

Time Out,

i hear what you are saying. About 10 years ago we were out fishing and someone radioed out to say the chute was completely iced in. We were planning on dropping someone off at the lighthouse and then making a run to Pultneyville. An hour or two later the wind shifted and pushed the ice out of the way.

I think if worse came to worse i could load on the beach......

We called the new owners of the bait shop up there (Used to be Abes) an they said it was clear.

Rodbuster,

yes the launch is open, there is just enough space between the

snow piles to fit a trailer. some ice was moving around from the

bait shop over towards the chute. With the temps they are calling

for on Saturday and Sunday I would think its going to have some

south in it if not straight south.

Good luck and by all means be careful, you will likely be the only

one out there and neither the coast guard or sheriffs have a boat

in or ready to go in.
