ive heard a few people say that they are making a comback on the east end too but short window of opportunity and not a strong enough population to target them.

ArtPark. Google their smelt festival. The festival is scheduled when the smelts are just about finished. Other than that, you are just gonna miss the ice fishing for them.

The SBH off of erie in buffalo was so friggin loaded with them your jigs wouldnt make it threw them.easily could have filled buckets full of them.got to the point after punching 25 holes and still couldnt get away from them that i left.It was not just 1 day it was the whole ice season

The Niagara is best when the ice boom is out of lake Erie and the water

temperature is 39 deg. Check the lake temperature out of Buffalo.

At Art Park as well as most places the smelt will run close to shore

well after dark. Maybe midnight or later.

And at times you will have to deal with some floating ice in the river.

Be careful, the drop off is fast and the water is cold.
