ELECTRIC TROLLING MOTORS

-Any thoughts on the Minnkota trolling motors that attach to the stern drive? I have read some positive reports about them but have not seen them discussed on this site.

Seems they would be a big draw on your batteries along with all your electronics & riggers. Just a thought.

depends on what youre using them for, i think they are a neat setup if youre doing something along the lines of drift fishing or something like that...

Can't speak about that unit, but for longevity and better boat control, stick with bow mounts. They are absolutely critical to the Captains on the Niagara river, and we all have bow mount models. Even if you want it for rare warm water species fishing, I would imagine it would hurt performance dragging on the lower unit. If it goes on and off easily, then perhaps it would work out.

I have a minn kota on the front of my boat,i useit in the spring on erie flat lining rapalas for walleye in shallow as the main motor will spook them when there in 2-6 feet of water.I havent used it for lake o as iuse my main motor(40hp merc)

As you can telli have a smaller boat that i use for everything.
