Just wondering if anyone runs a Nissan motor a buddy of mine is thinking of purchasing a 6 horse 4 stroke kicker or should he not bother??

If I am not mistaking Tohatsu makes all the small kickers for Themselves , Nissan and Merc.

Please correct me if wrong.

I just put a 115 Nissan on my boat last summer. I love it so far. A buddy of mine swears by them. He uses them on his duck boats. He says they are bullet proof. Also, the post about Tohatsu is correct. The Nissans and Tohatsus are the same motors. And I believe they make the power heads for the small Mercury motors.

Your both correct Tohatsu & Nisson are one in the same. Tohatsu also manufactures many smaller engines for other name brand company's as-well. Excellent quality engines all the way around.

I purchase a 2009 tohatsu 9.8 last year. I would not trade it for any other motor. That thing will idle all day with out a miss. Awesome for trolling and also run it on my Jon boat without an issue. Save the money and buy a tohatsu

Going to be putting kicker on my 240 ht thompson this year and probably going Tohatsu. 4 stroke. Have an old 2 stroke on my sons little boat and it just keeps going and going. 1 pull with full choke, then 1 without and she starts every time.

We have a nissan 6hp on our 19ft Alumacraft. Great motor, hardly burns any fuel, lots of power but it is a bit noisy.

Had it for 3 yrs now and have never had a problem. Only thing is I wish it had an alternator in it.
