Nice to hear there are atleast habitat problems for the carp if they reach the great lakes. Seams reproduction would be virtually impossible due to the length, speed, and temp of river water needed for eggs to hatch. Never knew the electrical barrier was installed to keep gobies out of the Mississippi river. I always thought it was for the carp.

Sorry,

Seems the need around 50 miles of river to spawn. The eggs need to float in 75 degree water at a speed of around 2 mph until they hatch. If the sink to the bottom, they die.

They knew carp were coming up the river long before gobies were a problem. Gobies don't swim like the carp do.
