Kicker no longer needed?

Just wondering if trolling with the new big 4 stroke outboards (Honda/Yamaha) is ok and the little 4 stroke 9.9 mounted on the side is a thing of the past?

we have twin Yamaha 4-strokes and shut one off when we troll. It works fine with no problem
