Hello All,

This is my first post and I am seeking some opinions on what I should do.

I just purchased a new 2010 Polar Kraft 160 SE. It comes with a 40lb Minn Kota Edge bow mounted trolling motor. I have a 2HP Honda short shaft that I bought last summer to run my 12' Aluminum on the river. I am now selling the 12' aluminum boat and trailer but I am thinking of keeping the Honda and mounting it on the back of the new boat as a kicker. The new boat has a 40HP Merc on it that will probably idle down enough for most trolling.

Any thoughts, should I sell the Honda and use the money to upgrade the electric trolling motor to a wireless model that I can control anywhere in the boat? Or, should I buy a mounting plate and mount the 2HP on the back of the new boat?

Pro's / Con's ?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Hey Gerrr, If you can mount it on the transom throw it on and give it a try.Do it on a windy day and see if it will control the boat. Welcome to the board.
