I lost the biggest brown of my life today. I had him to the dock twice, then my knot failed. he was over 30" ans somewhere between 17-20# no joke. I've caught a 15.2#er, and this guy dwarfed him. Slip bobber down 12' with a shiner and 6# test. I swear I almost cried when that line went slack, and when I saw it was knot failure I f@#!%^g lost it. I've never been so pissed while fishing. The improoved clinch has always been fine before, but its nothing but the polymar from here on out. So for now I'm off to drown my sorrows and probably not sleep for a few nights. :@;(:devil:

You will always remember the fish that you lose, when you have forgotten the ones that you have caught ;) Too bad, but now the rest of us have a chance to catch it

There goes the saying, "Nothing makes the fish bigger than when it is almost caught!"

Sorry to hear about the mishap.

You will be sharing this tale with your grandchildren.

Sorry about your loss. All I can say is; Palomar all the way baby, even if you have to pull a long leader thru it to get it done, especially with 8lb, which is what I run for BTs too.

P.S. Don't forget to wet the line b4 pulling tight, the heat created by the friction is a killer on light line.

Perchpred.....

Good talking with you tonight....It's going to take time to take the sting out of that one! On the bright side, your sighting proves that Cayuga Lake is continueing to turn into a special Brown fishery. In all my years of fishing this lake I have never seen the quality and # of Big Browns!

The result of last year's red cross derby is proof enough............The size of this species has continued throughout the year all over Cayuga. Makes me wonder what has changed....Strain?....food?......What ever it is let's enjoy the he!! out of it while it lasts.

Browns are the top of my list for fresh water species. The Brown fishing in the Millwalkee area has been producing numerous 20-30 pound world class examples. The Wisconsin Game dept. is changing the strain and it will likely decrease the size of these trophies. So if you want a chance at one of these guys, nows the time. Check out the Brown Pornnnnnnnnn on this guides site, some of the action is through the ice!

Hang in there buddy, Lavarock

I know the feeling. I lost my first big--maybe trophy--musky to an inadequate knot. I thought the clinch knot was enough. It wasn't. Go to the Trilene knot. You won't lose any fish because of it.
