stendrive steering question

I have a question about about steering on a Penn Yan boat with a 1983 OMC sterndrive.

The steering is stiff and not very responsive. This makes trolling a chore and driving at slow speeds. Basically th eboat is all over the place.

Anyone else experiance these problems? Any ideas?

Dear big Fishman, If you can, disconnect the steering cable at the outdrive. the steering wheel should then turn lock to lock with one finger. if not, the steering cable needs to be replaced(Best guess today!)...Jet Boat Bill
