I just finished having to do this to mine yesterday. Had to open up the panel in the deck where the fuel tank is and unbolt the sender, had to take out the float and unstick it so it would move again.

What do you need to do exactly?

when switched to the port tank it reads empty all the time and starboard tankonly goes up to 1/4 and down to E. I just didnt want to jump right in blind and create a bigger problem.

idid my sending unit last season, they are simple to do. each unit has to be measured and adjusted to each tank. did you put it in the right way, so its running long ways, not width ways, sounds like youre bumping the float into the side of the tank which whould explain the 1/4 and empty...check for a short too.

the units must be measured and set to certain heights to match the tanks capacity.

check your ground first. There should be a post with a wire mounted at the top of the tank, if that wire is loose you'll get erratic readings on the gas gauge.
