launched the boat this weekend and we did some brown trout fishing. has anyone ever had a lamprey bite a spoon? we had one bite our spoon, the hook was inside its sucker mouth. we did practice cpr on him catch, photographed and released ( in 2 pieces).

I would sooner think that it was snached off the fish as it came up to look at the spoon. :yes: They don't look like the fastest swimmers in the pond, more like a bushwacker type :no:

I "caught" one on a flasher/fly a few years back. I figured it got snag going after the flasher thinking it was a new host but it didnt live long enough for me to ask.

There seems to me a lot of them this year, I would say that 85% of all the browns I have caught have Lamprey marks on them and we have had 2 on the boat after landing the host, both got killed before going back into the lake.
