Auto Pilot Help

When I purchased this boat it came with a Raymarine Smart Auto Pilot. When we where out a Low Battery signal came on.

Question: Does that mean the battery in the boat it is connected to is low or is there a battery in the Auto Pilot itself, if so where is it?

What model do you have? If it's the S1000, the batteries are in the control unit. (triple A's)
