SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS

Took my son and his G/F out of port west to the pumphouse and set up trolling west. Ran a program of 3 downriggers and a down and out off one, and two braid dipsies. First hit of the day was on the corner rigger running a DW SS NBK off the ball down 32. A laker was the first to throw the skunk off the boat somewhere near Johnson's Creek...was beginning to wonder when, as the radio was saying it was rather slooooowww out there, and it was. Kept moving west and deeper as we went, found some good breaks and color in the water, and finally the screen lights up with good marks down deep off Shadagee. Quickly set the deep rigger from 80 down to 105 and three minutes later it's off and running. A king comes to the deck hanging onto a Hammer fly lead by a green dot pro troll flasher. Not big but a king and some more down there too. hit the waypoint again and the down and out off the port corner rigger takes off. This was a nice steelhead about 8 lbs that went for the green halogram NK28 lead by a #3 dipsy on a 3 setting back 50 feet and stacked 20 feet above the ball. High sun now and everything slowed even more. We ran around and set riggers from 65 feet to 140 feet and watched as the screen had fish at all those depths. Only 1 more little shaker that just fell off the stocking truck came 66 down on a stinger 42 second spoon, and an under size steelhead on the SS NBK came in the afternoon. Most fish were ball shy and ran away from them, heading for bottom. Lots of bait on the bottom everywhere.
