We are planning a trip to Lake Ontario from southern Maryland in mid-September. Initial plans are for the Mexico/Pulaski area to fish for salmon. Is that a good area to go at that time of year or is there a better part of the lake for September salmon?

Lodging recommendations (motel, lodge, or cabins) also appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

I'll put in another vote for Oswego. Late in September, you will find boats all over the place from Nine Mile over to the Salmon River. As for places to stay, the Port Lodge in Port Ontario is nice. Make sure you book early, though, regardless of where you stay. That time of the year is crazy, and it's hard to find vacancies last minute.

Mexico seems to be your best bet on average.

Last fall the Oswego fleet were fishing in Mexico Bay quite often and there where a lot of Oswego boats docked in the Little Salmon river.

There are exceptions, but more often than not Mexico Bay and north is good fishing.
