Herring! where do I get it!

Are people using cut plug herring? Is there a place to buy it and has any one tried whiting or something similar? I've got a freezer full of smelt but I think they are too small.

You can order Herring from fish on bait I think. Jons little salmon tackle shop in Mexico has herring. Smelt work great. We have bait heads in 2 sizes, small ones fit 3 or 4 " bait large will roll 4 to 7" bait. Big Weenie

jons lilsalmon sports has cut bait now.....should have whole bait by the 1st or 2nd weekend of july

I am kinda limited to eastern Ontario, but has anyone used the artificial cut baits? And my smelts are only 3 inches long and very thin, but I am going to try them, I use them for lakers on the lake I live on (Loughborough Lake).

We have the fake stuff that is made over there. Works really well and is soaked in herring oil. Jons little salmon has these also, BW

We have cut bait, whole bait, 2 different fake baits and MC Rockets! at Nancy's!

Rockets look sweet and have been working on the North Shore, they fit into a Rhys head nicely and have a hole through the insert strip to pin the strip, they seem to be pretty durable with multiple fish on a slice. Also are porous to a degree for scenting.

Slippery sinker is suppose to be getting cutbait this fri. I'd check or call narbys in pt breeze for the familiar bite

They have it in Sodus point now- a bit better than last year. I ran it for a few hours without it falling apart, so that is an improvement
