HI.

I am looking to purchase another reel for down rigging, I have an older Daiwa and it works great, want to update my knucklebuster to a level wind line counter, so maybe i can use a dipsy on it. any ideas on a half decent level wind lc ? thanks for you help, this site is very informative, I just discovered it a week ago.

Diawa saltist line counters. The high gear ratio is amaizing. Especially when running sliders. When a fish hits the slider and the rigger rod gets slacked up, the high speed reel allows You to get the line tight very fast. I'm totally sold......

Totally sold on the Saltist here too. The high speed retrieve is amazing and the drags are the best Daiwa has ever produced.

I like the looks and reviews of the Saltist, but i don t do enough fishing, weekends only to warrant $350 on a quality reel like that, I know you only get what you pay for. If ya wanna play ya gotta pay

$350 is a bit high for that reel. They regularly retail for $189. If that's still too steep, take a look at the Daiwa SG47LCA for around $90.

I've had the SG47LC's for a long time and they work fine. I have 8 of the SG27LC's also for planer board fishing. Never had a problem with any of them. If you only fish on weekends, I'd bet you'd get a lot of weekends out of the Cabelas Depthmaster II line counter reel. They have them on sale right now for 29.99 each. If they break, throw them away. Anyone using them?
