SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS I've heard that the fleas have been so bad this year that they even collect on 30lb mono. I will be fishing Aug 5-8. Should I re-spool my rigger rods with 50lb or stick with the 30 ?

Why stop at 50 lb. test go with 80 or maybe 130 and some penn 130 internationals and some roller tip rods . Sorry I couldn't resist fleas are a nuisance but, one that you'll have to deal with. If the fishing is as good as it has been then in 3 weeks than you should be fighting fish so frequently there won't be time for them to build up on your 30 lb. test.

20# has been fine since July 15

None to speak of out of sandy in two days. I run #30 flea flicker and have no problems. Just run a floro #20 leader. Good luck.

When i fished there Saturday they were basically non-existent.

I fished out of Olcott yesterday (Wed. july 28,2010) and the fleas are there, but not a big deal.

Only small amounts showing up on mono and wire.
