They are refering to North Latitude via GPS numbers, the middle numbers

In this pic of my fishfinder GPS I was north of Olcott on the 28 line almost to the 29 line. Each line is around 1 mile (not exactly tho).

GPS numbers have both North and West latitude/longitude. The further north you travel the higher the numbers go.

You'll see the numbers in the upper left hand corner of the screen.

The middle number is minutes. For instance Olcott is Latitude is 43.20.23 North, Longitude is 73.43.00 West. If you want to head to 25 line, out of Olcott, you would be looking for 43.25.23 on your GPS which is 5 miles from port.. Like Kevin said each minute NORTH is 1 mile, each minute WEST is 3/4 of a mile.

What ever port you launch out of look at the GPS coordinates and you can not go wrong.

This how it was explained to me as well and it worked.
