made this quick release set-up for rod holders for lightweight fishing ( walleye- smaller trout..NOT the BIG BOYS in Ontario but it will work) , using Ram and Cabelas rod holders with quick release locks( important things if you ever lost a pole) , the setup cost only $22 for parts, used an old seat pedestal for base, 2x4's ( treated ) and stainless bolts and wing nuts. Saw similar setups for sale for upwards of $200 +. First time using it had no problems trolling using dipsys with wire and other setups. Just thought we'd share for those guys who can't afford all the good bells and whistles yet ;(

Nice.

I machined something similar, from 6061-T6 aluminum, for my Tracker I use on Oneida.

I milled slots in them to put pliers in also.

Oh yeah aluminum would have been nice, ( and a bit lighter, this whole setup added 11# to boat)) but $$ constraints led me to use what materials I had on hand, I have since pictures were taken added small side holders for miscellaneous gear...pliers/knives, etc and two detachable cup/can holders, boys and their toys!
