DEC Research???

Anyone know what the DEC is researching in Mexico Bay? Around Catfish Creek from the outer limits of the Nine Mile buoys due north to approx 100fow, there is a line of buoy's with orange flags. The buoy's are labeled DEC Research. Any ideas?

They were doing the same thing in Port Bay back on the 4th of July weekend??

Those bouys are not being placed by the DEC. It is a company hired by one of the nuke plant owners, they are doing research on the fish in the area. From what I understand, they are not nets, but fish traps.

Were there last year too, I saw them being tended to one day in October last year also.

Fish studies for the Nuke plant. They are based out of Catfish Creek Marina.

Interesting. I thought it was a little suspicious and a little too coincidental, what with all the windfarm talk going on, although it has quieted down. While trolling Saturday, I did happen to see a boat with 2 guys onboard poking around the outer-most buoy. The boat was a battleship grey center-console with absolutely NO markings on it. Not even a registration number. That alone got my suspicions up.
