It was one great day to be on Cayuga. We launched in Ithaca and fished South of Sheldrake from 7am to 12. Today was one of those days that it was catching not fishing. We hit the Rainbow hot spots from yesterday and it payed off big time we put 6 nice bows in the boat one was a hog at 30 inches :o. All of those short salmon are starting to hit the 18 to 20 inch mark with a couple around three pounds mixed in. We found two big pods of bait out deep and the salmon were all over the bait, and my spoons on the riggers at 70 to 80ft. We let most of them go, the clients did take a few for the grill and even caught some for the Capt and Mate who had some salmon tonight ;) the rainbows went back we had to keep two that were hooked deep. We only ran two wire divers down deep for Lakers but we did end up with around 8 Lake Trout one 11 pound fish and three others over 9 lbs. We put one big guy in the boat for pics, and the scale then the rest we let go with the pliars at the back of the boat. This time of year when they hit the net and the boat floor they don't do good when you let them go. The cliets were great guys and they were more than happy to see the fish swim off with out having them in the net. Crank baits were hot today down 40 to 60 out over the deep water, and the riggers took the salmon down 70 to 80 ( all spoons on riggers) Wire divers were hot as always with flashers and flys white and green. Those are some healthy looking fish. I just started trolling a couple months ago. I have yet to catch a bow so I'm going to have to work on that one. Thanks for the pics.
