Metal planer reels

Beside Cisco, who makes them? I remember seeing a company that made them in different colors.

I think the Great Lakes Planer reels are metal. They have a longer handle that folds also. I don't know if they do custom colors though. I was looking at them at St. Peters.

I have the cisco manual reels on my boat now and they are great, they'll be even better next year when I add the motors to them

p s yeah I know I didn't answer your question Rich. Why do you want something other than bright aluminum and did you ask cisco if they could powder coat them for you? you have the cisco rod holders right?

The Ciscos are nice, but I remember seeing a company that made some that were various colors and all metal. Just looking for alternatives. Those Cisco electrics are not cheap! Then again what is? Yes, I have 8 of the single rod holders in a track. I love them.

Didn't bow them up, I use them EVERY trip. They are 5 years old now and the handle on one fell off and stripped out, and the line guide on the other bent and busted off.

Rich, that's why I got the manual crank planer reels this year and next year I'll buy the motors and controllers separately, spread it out over two years. It's a simple add on to convert the manuals to electric.

I have an extra reel if you need some parts, trade you some extra tackle if you got some double or triples if you want. It's sitting around connecting dust.

My planer reels are made by BIG WATER FISH and are all metal, powder coated and pretty rugged. I've heard of the plastic ones breaking.

Take those Big Jon's and make them electrics for cheap. Good project for the winter. See this post:

Mine have held up well, though I don't use them quite as often as you do.

I now have them mounted on the hard top of the new boat.
