I used it for a while-250 pound test-the material is good and it causes less blowback than wire because it is very thin, but it is so thin that sometimes it binds up on the reel. My problem with it is fear of having it cut by a wire line or a copper line that accidently rubs it for a while. (lures are a lot cheaper than down rigger weights or probes).

Sorry, should have clarified. I meant do you use it on the reels or is mono preferred. I use the power pro on all my other reels except my trolling reels.

It should work fine, just remember that you have no stretch so you have to set your drag accordingly. Spiny water fleas love power pro.

I use 30 lb. PP in the spring until the fleas start heavy. Then I switch to 30 lb. FleaFlicker for the rest of the year. Use a florocarbon leader 15/20 lb.) to the lure off either set-up. Have also used lighter leaders very early in spring.

I like the way the PP cuts through the water...less blowback. I have about 25' of mono or fluoro albrighted to the terminal end. I use 50 lb PP. I think it helps to see what happening off the ball due to the sensitivity.

I have 30 lb big game rigger rods ready if fleas get ridiculous.
