The Albright knot I think is the most popular knot used. Here is a link. I set up my core yesterday on the boat. I found using a toothpick for support on the wraps help keep it neat, but you have to work it tight real slowly similar to a nail knot.

I believe almost everyone uses what has become known as the Willis knot after it was posted on Great Lakes Angler by Captain Willis Kerridge of Thunderduck Charters on Lake Mich.

I actually saw it years before that from Captain John Oravec at a LOTSA Seminar.

I like the albright, use a few extra wraps when you tie your power pro backing to the core.

willis knot is the one to use... i use a small piece of 100lb power pro between the leader because its so stiff and works perfect.... not bad to buy a spool because if you use wire for your divers i trust it indefinatly from the wire to your leader "i use slide divers" the wire will never cut through the 100lb test..... i know a little overkill but after a few $50.00 break offs... im done .. its not happening again!!!

That Willis looks easy enough. Playing with the core in the store it seems once it has any kind of kink it will snap pretty easy. Thanks for the input, we may give it a try for a different look.
