I NEED BAIT!

Back when I was using bait , I had plenty of bait shops to choose from in Auburn.

Now all thats left is bait machines , isnt progress wonderful ?

DOES ANYBODY OUT THERE , know of a place that may still exist that I could purchase

minnows from?

From what I heard BEARWOOD in Skan. is closed till December.

What about the bait store in Moravia?

In Scipio Center there usually are a couple of kids who sell fat heads and worms.Just check the local Penny Saver.

there's a shop just north of Lasning(can't remember the name of it) but the guy that runs it is named Harlin 607-592-7544. He's been open everytime I've needed bait.

AC Marine on York st in auburn sells fatheads, bass shiners and pike shiners. Just opened a couple months ago. Nobody knows about them yet. He will be carrying more kinds of minnows when ice rolls in.

If you don't find fatheads in your area and want to purchase by the pound I am in Oswego about 35 to 40 miles from Auburn and will sell to you

You can purchase 5 to 10 lbs. and hold them for weeks rather easily

$10/lb.

I thought with NY's great new rules that you can only keep minnows for 2 weeks. If you bought 10 pounds, they'd last for quite awhile I imagine?

It is easy to keep bait for months in the winter. What we need is someone with common sense making up the rules. Maybe the new Governor will appoint someone to take charge of this stupid bait rules situation. Like the bait know where in the lakes, the border lines on a piece of paper are? Ontario, Pennsylvania and Ohio let you use bait from the Great Lakes, only New York forces you to spend $14 plus sales tax to go fishing.

Yes, I agree, but that doesn't answer my question. If you don't have a receipt that's dated within 2 weeks, how do you get around that if a DEC officer asks for it?

Al Lindner would tell you Gulp! outfishes live bait. However, my experience is that the fish will tell you something else. Maybe they haven't seen the commercial yet.
