Just got back from a X-mas Eve party and asked my Uncle who lives down there if there is any safe ice yet. He said it would be to thin. Don't know how accurate, but I'll stay off it for awhile. Braddocks Bay has good ice.

Lake ususally doesn't freeze good until mid to late January. No significant ice yet from what I have heard. .....just a bit at the extreme north and south ends. Like all lakes always stay away from the points where small creeks enter the lake.

thanks for the help! i usually fish bays off of ontario and not inland lakes. I usually fish around little sodus bay, blind sodus, port bay, and sodus bay mainly for perch and panfish and i would like to start targetting bigger fish like walleye n trout.

Fairhavenfisherman - Same here, I usually after the bass and pike during winter on tip-up until I learned how to jigging with rod. It cannot beat the feeling when you got a bite at end of line. then I heard that trout was excellent fighter tad better than pike in winter. It made me want to go after them.

Just let me know how fishing is well at sometime later once you went.

Good luck!
