wire line from McMasters&Carr

I know so folks have bought their wire line from McMasters & Carr. Does anyone have an item #? I see there's a lot of different selections. I was looking at the 302 stainless 7x1 strand in either 25# or 40#. Is that what folks use? Also how many feet of wire will a Sealine 47 take? thanks, Ron

Can't help you with that brand, but most of the guys here fish 20 and 30lb 7strand. A similar sized reel, an Okuma size 30 Catalina or Convector will hold 1000 feet of wire, and about a 1/4 inch of backing.

The 47 will hold 1000' of .015 - 30lb 7 strand with no backing.

I've bought wire from there and also know of others who have too. It USED TO BE the cheapest way to go but not anymore, see how much a 1000 t. is gonna cost ya , I'm sure it'll change your mind and look for an alternate wire to purchase.

I used to get a 1000' for $30 , pretty sure its just about doubled now.

I have also used wire from McMaster Carr in the past but as Sliderbite said, it is not as cheap as it used to be. The cheapest way I have found is to buy wire in a 10,000' bulk spool. I fish a lot, and run 4 wire divers 99% of the time, so spending the money on the bulk spool made the most sense to me.

Ron...the last I knew from McMaster Carr was they would no longer sell the wire in 1000'.That was in 2010....Zeke & Cyn(Strike 3)
