Comparing the Depth Raider to the Moor Subtroll. I really would like a transducerless unit and if I am not mistaken it looks like the Depth Raider has a coated cable and the Moor does not. Is that correct? What kind of depth are you Moor people getting from your unit on Lake Ontario before you lose signal?

nope, both the Moor and the DR use coated cable. It's not nearly as big a deal as some would have you believe. I find it vastly preferable to installing another 'ducer myself.

I've had my DR with 160 ft of cable out without losing signal.

Thanks Tim, I am glad I asked about the cable.

Coming into possession of a new-to-me boat but wont have it out of the water until next fall if I was so inclined to put a transducer on. I don't want to go all season without temp/speed so I will be getting one of these.

My moor subtroll has seen depths of 150+. The working parts of both units is very similar and the big difference between the 2 units is the display (digital vs analog).
