those fish weights or herbie's are notorious for erratic behavior in the water.

Some guys try to bend the tail to "swim" left or right but I have two and I use them for ballast in the bow.

Ditto for the pancake type weight with a bendable metal "fin".

If you are looking to try something less frustrating I have heard good things about the ATOMIK torpedo weights. I have a 15 lb. Shark weight I use for the probe rigger, a 12 lb tru trac and a 10 lb cannon ball. Good luck, hey at least you are fishing not typing like me.

What kind of releases do you use?

A pinch pad release attached to fishy weight's tail could cause issues too.

I like the Black's Release, you attach the release to your cable or termination then attach the Black's

so the release is above the weight. Your weight then gets attached to the Blacks. Check them out I think there 9.95

a good value.

I'll second the Black's release. That's all I use these days.

Those Atomik torpedos are really great for the price. I bought a few 13 lbers up at Screwy leweys in Oswego last year and I think they were $32 each.

I run torpedos with no problems after the same issues with the fish. I found blacks made the fish worse. The extra tension from the line in a release on the tail actually helped to straighten them out. Others have told me the action helps.
