I was looking at the paper on Feb 27th and it said Lake Ontario was 1 foot below average. Did the Army Corp. of engineers screw us again this spring?

We have not had our spring thaw yet or any of the normal spring rains either. But as you state since the ACOE's has been playing with the level of the Lake they tend to screw it up it has been on average for the last 15 to 20 years left on the low end of level. Why not really sure but it does make a mess for docking and stationary docks for sure. Good Luck! Hard to fight the MAN if you know what I mean..

I drove by the Genesee river dam in Letchworth State Park today and I have never seen it that high.Probably the other rivers are the same.My guess is that when the thaw sets in the lake level will go up a few feet.

Isn't the lake regulated mainly by releases down the St. Lawrence? And didn't they put a plan in place recently that sets rotating fluctuations in water levels, providing for couple years of high and a couple years of low water every ten years or so? I remember reading about the public meetings, but I don't recall which plan, if any, was finally adopted. Does anybody have details?
