Anyone know the dates and times of the trout sampling this year on Naples, Coldbrook, and Catherine? Methinks it might be next week ?

According to Pete Austerman, DEC Aquatic Biologist, "The 2011 spring electrofishing on Naples Creek will be Thursday, March 24".

Cold Brook the 25th (weather permitting). Catharine depends on stream conditions.

Anyone know when Catharine would be electroshocked? My brother in law works for WENY-TV and they have no word yet. They would like to get out to do a story on it.

A story ran in the Star Gazette a few days ago that there would be NO electrofishing in Catherine Creek this year due to the cold and the high water.

For what it is worth, DEC no longer publicizes this event because past shockings have resulted in traffic jams and unruly behavior- your basic public nuisance.

Last year I caught the tail end of their electroshocking, but only because I happened to drive by at the right time.
