Anyone try these reels yet? The 55 series has more line capacity than the Tekota 800 and their 6.2:1 gear ratio might make reeling in those long coppers nice. I just saw them on FishUSA.

Thanks,

Are they new this year Paul? This is the first I saw of them. How do they compare to the Shimano Tekotas?

John i bought a few last year, you won't be disappointed. The tekotas are nice reels however the high speed ratio of the okuma's allow you to keep less slack in the line resulting in less loss fish. 500 copper was the most i was able to fit on the reel and that was with 700 of 40 lb braid backing. Another nice aspect is that okuma make wide mouth levelwinds now so now more dremel tool needed with was the major down fall of the okuma reels.

They are great. Tremendous drag, and the high speed retrieve is easy to get used to. I used several of the 55's last year and will find more applications for the 45's this year. They are in the process of introducing a high capacity copper reel for the extreme stuff.
