LAKEOFFECT I WOULD NOT GO SMALLER , I HAVE A 23'6 WITH A 350 VOLVO AND IT STILL SUCKS GAS BUT DONT GET A BOAT THAT IS UNDER POWERED TO SAVE ON FUEL . MY BUDDY HAS A 24'BAYLINER 6CYL THOUGHT IT WOULD BE GREAT ON GAS 6CYL AND ALL NOT THE BOAT IS A DOG UNDER POWERED SO IT STILL SUCKS JUST AS MUCH GAS AND THAT MOTER WORK A LOT HARDER THEN MINE AND THE BOAT IS ONLY 6" BIGGER HE IS BUMMED TOP SPEEDS OF 25-27MPH .ALSO THERE WOULD BE A LOT LESS ROOM ON YOUR BOAT IF YOU GO THAT SMALL ON AN 8' BEAM YOU WILL LOOSE 24 SQ FOOT IF YOU GO TO A 23' AND 40 SQ FOOT IF YOU GO TO A 21' THATS A GOOD BIT OF FISHING ROOM.

IMO STAY WITH THE LARGER BOAT AND GET A KICKER FOR TROLLING 9.9 -15 HP THAT WILL HELP ON FUEL OR TAKE OUT ALL UNNESSARY WEIGHT OR GET FISHING PARTNERS TO HELP PAY FOR FUEL .

I HAVE SOME GREAT FISHING BUDDIES THAT HELP ON MY BOAT IT COST $80-120 IN FUEL FOR EVERY ALLDAY TROLLING TRIP AND THERE ARE WEEKS I FISH 4 DAYS AND OTHERS THAT I ONLY FISH 2-3 DAYS BUT I COULD NOT AFFORD TO FISH LIKE THIS BY MYSELF. I CAN SEE A KICKER IN MY FUTURE AS WELL.
