i have 2 Okuma 8' 6'' Classic Pro GLT Downrigger rods and the Okuma magda pro 30's that dont really get used that much. i was wondering if i put some wire and a twillie tip on them if they would make good dipsy rods.

with the twillie tips they'll work just fine. not familar with the okumas, would be best, much easier for you rigging to duplicate sets, if they have counters though...

I run the same rods and I personally love them especially with the Triangler Grip. Much more comfortable to hold while battling those monsters  They will work just fine. I run 10'ers though for wire. The other rod that I like to use is Diawa's AccuDepth. ;)

as with any reel,be sure to back off the drag when the reel is not in use.if the drags remain cranked down, especially if you are using wire, you will feel the wear spots as you reel in, when you are doing battle with big fish.

have owned the magda 30"s

good luck!
