I checked NOAA's website and there is still a bit of ice packed at the mouth of the river. I fish the Niagara River and the mouth of Niagara-On-The-Lake. It is almost impossible to fish with the cold ice coming down. Would be nice for some more warm rain to help dissipate the ice before completely removing the ice boom.

The lake is almost free of ice but the river is solid ice from the Buffalo Main Light down to the North Grand Island Bridge. Here it comes lower river guys.

as of right now the Boom is still in they only removed a small section on the Canadian side.... this is getting stupid!!!...take that thing out!!!!... look for yourself!!

They do that on purpose so they can have a controlled flow of ice down the river. Having the boom there all winter and then just ripping it out all at once so that 200+ sq mi of ice is suddenly flowing down the river uncontrolled at once and damaging the intakes would completely negate the purpose of putting the boom in in the first place.

Up to the falls this past weekend...w-pool and below was clear, because of a nice ice jam just below the falls catching everything. Should be ok on the lower...until it let's loose!

Probably better to gamble in the casino than on the water right now. ;)
