Gentlemen-My boat has been disabled for 3 weeks now...getting a new port engine. I will be heading out of Sandy on my friends modestly equipped boat on Saturday morning. Can any one help me with a top speed-down speed correspondence heading East and West? I will only have paddle wheel top speed tomorrow. Thanks and good luck.

Keep an eye on this site. Surface currents can change every hour or so.

In general, the main underlying currents go from west to east along the southern shore. If there's an upwelling, there's absolutely no correlation.

I'd advise watching the angle on you cables. Also don't get locked into one speed if after an hour or so with no action. i.e. change speeds

Troll North/South across the current. Vary your top speed mid 2's to mid 3's take note of trolling direction and speed when a rod fires. You may need to change speed when you change direction. Good Luck!
