I really think they should drop the minimum for next spring to 8lbs. A ten lb walleye is similar to catching a 25lb + king this time of year. I know there was only 2 days of walleye fishing in the derby but that is just too high of a minimum. I mean only 2 - 10lbers weighed in and nothing 11. :( Anyone agree?

someone made out  ,unless the remainin money set aside for all 20 places was split up to all who entered fish in the devision... yea 10 is pushing it a tad and who would know better than landshark ( part walleye himself) :poolparty:

Next year there wil be 5 days to fish the walleye division

Walleye opens may 5 next year does that mean the loc starts latet?

I think the 10lb. minimum is fine. With the shortened time frame and the ad conditions is the main reason you didn't see more fish entered. Plus many walleye "guys" don't enter the LOC.

I dont think it got filled last year either or even close

I agree that it should be dropped to 8lbs, or even simply any legal walleye for that matter. Get more people into the derby and into the weigh stations. 8)

I dont nkow if it starts later landshark. I was at the ceremony at Sodus Bay and the guy running the show said next year will be 5 days, instead of two.

Must be that guy has the LOC Derby ending on a Wednesday next year.

I think they should make an atlantic division

People are kinda encouraged to release them as it is a delicate species

I like this idea for walleye to be 8lbs, I think lake trout should be change to 16lbs or 18lbs, the biggest of the days winners (for loc) were all over 18. Most people are already keeping the walleyes they catch , but i seen two 12lb lakers thrown out in youngstown this year and three 14 or so on west creek rd. All those 12-16lbs will grow to be derby winners!! (Special with no laker stocking i think this would help for the future)

Heading up too black river this weekend hope the rain holds out. Will post a update when i get back.
