I have a question about getting out to the Red can from the river mouth. If I go out to the Green Can, Will I have any issues going straight to the Red can from there or do I need to go around the shallower water. Looking at the charts, I don't see anything shallower than 12 feet between the two cans.

You can proceed at full throttle all the way if you choose to. A compass read of N-0 degrees will take you there (or use GPS). The can sits in about 50 FOW. Beyond the can (N), the bottom will drop VERY rapidly to 100 FOW with slower increases in depth thereafter. The Canadian border lies about a mile W of red can. Be alert for logs/debree at this time of year, you could find a big tree almost anywhere on your way out and in the red can area.
