Spend 4 hours with my 7 year old today on Owasco which was only our second time on the lake and first in 2 years. We went with the intentions of targeting Pike and boy did they cooperate on the north end. Ended up getting hit 15 times in the 4 hours and landed 6 of them. They were all nice ones too averaging 26 inches. A few months ago they would have been nice fat fish but as post spawners they were lacking any girth. Still a blast to catch though. Everything came in 12-15 foot of water of the west shore in the north end and the hot bait was a perch colored live action crankbait. Unfortunately the 3 nicest fish of the day 6, 8-ish, and 10+ lbs all came off at the boat before I could get them in the net.

What made it nice too was when the pike slowed down the panfish heated up and kept a very happy 7 year old entertained til it was time to go.

Now its time for a cold beer!

sounds like you both had a good time together. WTG

always nice to get out there and have quality family time, and even better when the fish cooperate so that the fishing time exceeds the travel time. the attention span can make for some short adventures otherwise
