I have the depth raider and love it! I don't think you can go wrong with the subtroll, fishhawk or Cannons. They are all good units as well. ;)

I say X4. All the brands are good but it is all personal preference. I'm a firm believer in you pay for what you get. If you buy cheaper, you will get cheaper.

I have an x4 and like it. However, if I were to only fish for trout and salmon a dozen times a year, I probably wouldn't have purchased the x4 for about $140 (or even more now) extra over the other two options.

If you don't want to mount an additional transducer on your boat or if you plan on selling it anytime soon, I wouldn't get an x4.

Either way, there are plenty of guys that like each different speed and temp unit so you should be fine with whatever you choose.

Good luck,

Andy

I run a Depth Raider on the starboard side and a Fish Hawk X4 on the port, I would have to say the X4 for great depths. My Depth Raider stops reading at 225' but the X4 keeps on ticking to 500' out west here where we are fishing at 280' to 300' in the summer.
