I use a drill style pump for my engine oil..it sucks..take forever to get it going, even with a new impeller.

Anyone use the other style with the built in motor and waste tank? If so what brand and is it reliable?

Thanks Nick

I used those drill ones for a while too and you are right, they suck!. I found it to be much quicker and just as easy to use the brass hand pump. I've never tried the "built in motor" ones.

thanks hank. I will order one of those.

And the ones with the motor and pump ar mounted almost like in a box with a tank. My marina (in tight with mechanics) let me use theirs once last year, it pumped out my engine oil in less than a minute.. Flip the switch and it pumped it back out of the holding tank into a waste tank in the same amount of time..

I use the same pump for my boat and it works great!! I got mine at a West Marine and paid about the same for it as Northern offers it at.

ya, it worked great, when i pumped it, and a minte later, i couldnt believe it, it was done already. I was shocked. It took so much longer with my other one, the drill pump. That things going in the trash!

Nick,

I have a Quick Drain electric pump and it would not move the oil cold, i ran the engine for a few minutes to warm it up and it pumped the oil out but took about 15 min. If you have not purchased one you are more than welcome to try mine just let me know.
