Hi,

Not sure where or which forum this needs to go in but here is my dilemma. I attach my cannon balls to to the eye ball hooks on my cannon downriggers. The problem I am having is that over the years, the wire hoop on the weights on where I attach my cable terminator is running real thin due to the balls swinging from the eye hooks. I am on borrowed time with these. Any suggestion on what I can do to fix.

Thanks,

I think it's time for new rigger weights.Tom from atomiks told me that he thinks he will have a 15 lb torpedo by next year(I hope)or sharks are doing well from what I can gather.I don't think there is a fix for your weights but what do I know  Good luck.

1. Don't hang weights on those dingblst'd hooks.

2. Cut the ring off, drill hole & screw in a wood thread eye bolt that has the threads epoxied. Be careful drilling lead because it will grab the bit & load rather quickly. (make sure your cable has a swivel snap on it)

or

3. Get new weights & make sure the eye has a heavy wire in it. (still, don't hang the weights on those hooks)
